Director

Tony Rowe

Tony has 35 years in the insurance industry.  Tony’s expertise evolved though working with International brokers in New Zealand and abroad, and latterly ownership of the prestigious Trafalgar Insurance and Marlborough Insurance brands.  Tony has overall responsibility for the insurance & risk affairs of the Company. 

Tony is an Associate of the Insurance Institute of New Zealand (AIINZ) and Qualified Practising Insurance Brokers (QPIB), and has achieved Fellowship status (FIBANZ) as awarded by the Insurance Brokers Association of NZ

Tony is married with a grown family.

Director

Darren Sowerby

Darren is a director of Trafalgar Insurance Brokers Ltd. This recognises his tremendous effort's in the relatively short time he has been with us.

For the previous 10 years Darren had worked for one of New Zealand's largest insurers, providing advice on risk and insurance to a large and varied range of clients in commerce, industry, horticulture and farming throughout Nelson, Motueka and Golden Bay.

Darren already holds a Diploma in Business studies and a Certificate in Management but sees gaining further knowledge and qualification as an ongoing and necessary part of being able to provide clients the best advice. He is a Senior Associate of the Australia and New Zealand Insurance Institute.

"I joined Trafalgar Insurance Brokers because it is a Nelson owned company in which I can provide personal service to customers and develop insurance packages finely tuned to suit individual needs. Consultant

Kenn Butler

Kenn has been in the insurance industry for 32 years, predominantly with NZI being in senior management positions. Since January 2005 he has been running his own insurance and business consultancy practice, the latter primarily in the executive and leasing and coaching areas. Kenn holds professional memberships to the Institute of Directors, the NZ Institute of Management and is a past president of the Nelson Tasman Chamber of Commerce having served on the board for 6 years. He has extensive experience as a business and youth mentor with both Business in the Community and Youth Enterprise Schemes.

Elizabeth (Liz) Massey

Liz is the key to our efficient office workflow practices and documentation of our clients' business with us. This ensures responsiveness, efficiency and accuracy as well as timely documentation in relation to all the services we provide.

You'll always find Liz to be a friendly, knowledgeable and helpful first point of contact.

ACCOUNT EXECUTIVE

Paula Brophy

After 16 years with one of New Zealand’s leading insurers, mostly in Nelson, Paula joined the team at Trafalgar Insurance Brokers Ltd.

The insurance industry has changed dramatically in recent times and will continue to do so. Many of the insurance companies that once were represented in places like Nelson are no longer here. In my new role I am once again looking forward to the opportunity of helping many of the friends that I have made in business over the years, and others that I can now offer the added benefits of my being an insurance broker.

People in business need advice on how to deal successfully with many of the risks that might threaten their existence. This responsibility is increasingly the role of insurance brokers with access to a wider range of insurance products than can be reached by the wider business community”

Paula’s other interests include gardening, interior design, and the company of family and many friends. She has also held several leading positions on insurance industry and local business interest groups, as well as having been president of a garden club for several years

SENIOR ACCOUNT EXECUTIVE

Phil Dubar

Phil is the newest addition to our team at Trafalgar Insurance Brokers and brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience.

His career in insurance spans over 16 year’s experience including 10 years broking in both the New Zealand and the London market, and as Broker Consultant for New Zealand Insurance, overseeing the broking fraternity in the Nelson, Tasman and Marlborough regions.

“A professional service standard is a given in all business however in addition, we  here at Trafalgar Insurance Brokers provide value by leveraging clients own investment in risk management and best practice to achieve a better return to premiums and coverage not available in off-the-shelf products.
